Perimeter Managers and Shift Leads

The Perimeter Managers and Shift Leads oversees on-playa Perimeter operations on a per-shift basis, managing the team of volunteers working on their shift.

They perform all responsibilities of standard Perimeter operations, monitor and participate in intercepts and Perimeter patrols, and resolve and troubleshoot problems.

Crybaby
I'm called Crybaby. I enjoy long walks by the fire.

Recreational activities include, but are NOT limited to:

Keeping people out of BRC
Keeping people inside of BRC
Instructing new volunteers on the proper techniques and culture of Perimeter

diVIne
Candace first attended Burning Man in 1999, after many failed attempts in years prior. The first year made such an impression on her and her husband, Haiku that they vowed to return.

Since that first encounter she has volunteered with many groups in the Spirit of Burning Man; Greeters, Center Camp Cafe, and Black Rock Rangers before finally settling in with the group she calls family: GP&E.

diVIne loves this group of hard-working misfits and treasures the short time shared in the dust each year. Determined to add some panache to the group, she can be easily spotted on Perimeter sporting one of her trademark fabulous outfits.

In the default world, diVine flies for United Airlines out of LAX and operates a small Photography Studio with her best friend and husband, Haiku.

F-Bomb
Originally attracted to the festival and art scene of BRC, F-Bomb ventured off to burning man in 2006.

After w orking in museums and experiencing "dead" art in sterile environment, she decided she w as more inspired by the large scale interactive art in a (definitely) non-sterile and vibrant environment of the Black Rock Desert. Camping + art = great combo!

However as the glow wore off of the festival atmosphere she realized that she better get involved in a group and be productive! GP&E w as suggested and viola: another misfit joins the crew. Now the people in GPE have become family to her and she is happy to spend her time working hard with her team in the dust.

In the real w orld F-Bomb w ears many hats: artist/designer and animator, avid rock climber, backpacker, camper, mountain biker, and off-road motorcyclist, but on playa she mostly wears a cowgirl one.

Garzan
Garzan is a Perimeter Shift Lead, and helps with mailing list cat herding. According to Ms. Roach, he wears too much khaki, but that could be due to being a former Black Rock Ranger.

Unless soaking in warm water, he's rarely seen without a hat, and a coffee cup, and sometimes even then.

While not much of a talker, he has been known to make an occasional dry observation.

Odin
Odin got hooked on Perimeter his second year in BRC. Gettin dusty and chasin hippies got under his skin, fast. Even though he is a slight, demure man I’ve taken to this job and relish it every day.

Odin likes macrame, Led Zeppelin, the Doors, and the Stones. He rides a KLR 650.

Oh, and he makes tombstones for a living.

Lefty
Lefty personifies the typical Perimeter Lead: quiet, capable, resourceful and patient.

An avid outdoorsman versed in all manner of skills, Lefty is easily spotted with his easygoing smile and flaming ginger hair cut G.I. Joe short.

Rabbi
Rabbi came to burning man in 2001 and sat in a "goats' body" as the oracle of truth with attractive people.

He found a new freedom and peace in the desert he did not previously know, and did not celebrate by taking drugs. Instead he decided he would work for the man.

Having worked in khaki colors in 2002, Rabbi found black in 2003 and never went back. Lured by the charms of the legendary Mr. Freeze, he endured the baptism of fire through each management team despite rigorous training indoctrinations including the "deep banana".

Immortalized in the film “Beyond Black Rock“, Rabbi has gone on to be a team leader in the Perimeter department. Not one deep playa scout has been lost to date under his watchful and guiding hand.

You will see Rabbi wearing black, and a few pounds heavier, attempting to re-live his glory days in the Perimeter Department while still carrying on the department’s high level of excellence.

He might actually offer you a donut.

Ziptie
Johnny Ziptie has attended Burning Man since 1996(Hellco). Perimeter "Scout" since 2005.

Cacophony Society - Past President & Founder: Sacramento Chapter, Search & Rescue Volunteer.

Ziptie enjoys riding his BMW GS Motorcycle, listening to The Clash, Pogues, Flogging Molly and meeting all the freaks at BRC.

Feral Kid & Lia
Lighthouse Supervisors
They provide the soothing voice you hear on the Perimeter radio on those long cold nights. Feral and Lia lead our lighthouse teams, training new peeps in the mystical art of tracking hippies from afar.

Feral Kid likes to shoot people, but not all cold-blooded like...he always asks first. And afterwards, those people have some pretty kickass photos of themselves.

Lia likes to spend her time on playa sprucing up her bus, affectionately known as Melrose Place among the Gate crowd.
